Compensation: CAD$$37,208 annually
Type: Part-time

Position Overview: 

The Community Director leads Glia’s community engagement, volunteer coordination, and public communications. This role connects people and projects within Glia’s mission, strengthens donor and partner relationships, and ensures that volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and inspired.



Key Responsibilities:

Community Communications

  • Manage incoming inquiries and general organizational correspondence.
  • Ensure questions and requests are followed up with or closed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure responses reflect current activities and priorities.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Lead monthly volunteer onboarding sessions and maintain updated orientation materials.
  • Track volunteer interests and skills to match them with suitable projects or opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain connections with active volunteers and community supporters.

Donor and Supporter Relations

  • Support online donations, ensuring timely acknowledgment and donor appreciation.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and segment supporter lists for campaigns and communications.
  • Draft and send updates, thank-you messages, and calls-to-action to engage and retain supporters.
  • Build rapport with key donors and community partners through regular, personalized outreach.

Event Coordination

  • Prepare and organize materials for public events or community displays.
  • Represent Glia at events by sharing its mission and projects with attendees.
  • Recruit and coordinate event volunteers, ensuring they are briefed, supported, and appreciated.
  • Oversee logistics such as setup, transportation, and volunteer well-being during events.


Qualifications:

  • Strong self-management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an inclusive and accessible tone.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining relationships across diverse groups (volunteers, donors, partners).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with attention to detail.
  • Adept at working both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
  • Comfortable using open-source digital tools and willing to learn new systems.
  • Access to a laptop suitable for professional use (tax receipt provided if purchased for Glia).
  • Flexibility to adapt as Glia’s programs and community evolve.


Assets (not required):

  • Experience in community organizing, volunteer management, or nonprofit work.
  • Familiarity with open-source collaboration, healthcare, or humanitarian initiatives.
  • Based in or near London, Ontario.
  • Access to transportation for events.
