The Glia Aerosol-Reducing Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) Mask reduces aerosolization or virus droplets and minimizes airborne risk for healthcare workers.
Description: As a Health Canada Class II medical device, the Glia Aerosol-Reducing mask addresses the issue of leakage that conventional masks for BiPAP and CPAP machines face at high pressures. A reduction in leakage means a lower risk of airborne illness infecting hospital employees and other patients. It can be used any time infection control is a concern, including with patients who may be at risk of an aerosol-borne disease such as COVID-19, influenza, or other viruses. It is intended for use in emergency rooms, intensive care units, pre-hospital transport, intra- and inter-hospital transport, and for emergency use in remote health stations without access to assisted ventilation systems.
Components: The mask features a variety of off-the-shelf components coupled with a universal 3D printed ABS adapter capable of attaching to any existing commercial BiPAP or CPAP machine. Off-the-shelf components include tubing, valves, a filter, a CO2 detector, a fitting, and a gasket. The mask features face pieces with a double seal - one around the mouth and nose, and another around the face – to contain virus particles.
Cleaning: The Glia Aerosol-Reducing NIV Mask comes with a decontamination protocol.
Manufacturing: The Glia Aerosol-Reducing NIV Mask is manufactured in Canada.
Warranty: Glia will offer a 1 year warranty, except for problems associated with regular wear and tear or harsh use.
